Mary Zazula (nee Kavalac), 92, of Lorain, died Thursday, April 1, 2010 at the Cleveland Clinic after a short illness. She was born October 11, 1917 in Cleveland and has been a life long Lorain resident graduating from Lorain schools. She was a devoted housewife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She worked as a short-order cook for Izaly's Restaurant Lorain and also worked at General Industries and Lorain Products. Mary had been a member of the Delaware Avenue United Methodist Church and was currently a member of the Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church, Golden Agers Pensioners Club, AARP, and the Lorain Community Senior Center. She is survived by her daughter, Janet L. Vitale of Lorain; son, Joseph Zazula of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; 3 grandchildren, Joseph Vitale, Suzanne Varney, and Zack Zazula; and 4 Great-Grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband Joseph Zazula in 1985, parents, George and Anna (nee Howard) Kavalac; and brothers, John and Joseph "Pinky" Kavalac. Private services will be held Monday, April 5, 2010 at the Dombrowski-Humphrey-Riddle Funeral Home 1939 Oberlin Ave. Lorain.. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
