Dr. Maryanne Olynyk (nee Sczpanski), 69, of Vermilion, died Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at her home after a brief illness. Maryanne was born May 6, 1949 in Elyria and had been a Vermilion resident for the past year moving from Shaker Heights. Maryanne served her residency at Metro Health and University Hospitals and continued her career in family practice and occupational health. She was a member of Our Lady of Peace, Cleveland. She enjoyed bead work, and cared deeply for children in need, and the native American populations she served late in her career. She is survived by her son, John Paul "J.P." Olynyk of Tolland, CT; daughter, Sarah "Anastasia" (Anthony) Pecora of Pittstown, NJ; grandchildren, William and Michael Olynyk and Stella Catherine Pecora; sister, Tara Tibayan of Vermilion and Linda Harrison of Northfield, NJ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Olynyk in 2010; parents, Nicholas and Stella (nee Ochwat) Sczpanski; and her brother, Michael Sczpanski. The family will receive friends on Friday, Nov. 2, 2018 from 5-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace, 12601 Shaker Blvd., Cleveland 44120. Father Gary Chmura will officiate.
