Melba "Poody" Walker (nee Knott), age 92, of Vermilion, passed away Friday, October 23, 2015 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph. Melba was born April 7, 1923 in Vermilion, and had been a lifelong area resident. She was an artist and photographer with Ludlow Photography, and had also worked at Lakeshore Dry Cleaners. Melba was a member of United Church of Christ, Congregational. As an artist she enjoyed oil painting. She also enjoyed golf, cooking, sewing, playing cards, knitting, and spending time with her family and numerous friends. Melba was very enthusiastic about everything she did and was an inspiration to many. She is survived by son, Rich (Julie) Gorbach of Vermilion, 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene, daughter, Jan Leshinski, granddaughter, Debra Ann Leshinski, parents, Franklin and Elsie (nee Fischer) Knott, and sister, Lucille Moes. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 31 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Church of Christ Congregational, 990 State St., Vermilion.
