Merry Sue Brown

Merry Sue Brown (nee Harding), 77, of Vermilion, passed away Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Mercy Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

Born March 1, 1948 in East Liverpool, Ohio, Merry Sue made Vermilion her home for more than 55 years. She devoted over 20 years of her life to working as a waitress at Ponderosa.

Merry Sue found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She was a member of the Eastern Stars. She loved watching NCIS, baking and cooking for her family, flowers and her garden and spending time feeding and watching birds. She enjoyed trips to the casino and, above all, adored her dogs. Her greatest happiness, however, came from the time she spent with her family and dogs.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, James Robert Brown; her daughter, Jamie (Frank) Sereika; her grandchildren, Ben (Daine) Sereika, Lindsay (Adam Petraseck) Sereika, Chloe (Jonathan Kluha) Stryker, Wesleigh Stryker, Lillian Sereika, Abel Sereika, and Joshua Sereika; and her brother, Marty Cramer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Thomas and Susan Sue (nee Croft) Harding; her son, James R. Brown II; and her brothers, Jeff, Dave, and Bobby Harding.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio.
