Michael F. Aldrich, 50, of Vermilion, died suddenly Sunday, July 5, 2015 at his home. He was born February 1, 1965 in Buffalo, NY, and grew up in Marilla, NY. He had been a Vermilion resident for the past 27 years. Michael graduated from Iroquois High School, Elma, NY with the class of 1983. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and worked as an air traffic controller with the Oberlin Center retiring after 30 years. Michael was a life member of AMVETS Post #22, Vermilion, where he had served as an officer. He also served as an advisor for the Jr. Amvets. He had his private pilots license and enjoyed volunteering with the Angel Flight program. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, recently participating in the 40 to Phoenix ride, in addition he enjoyed traveling and visiting with family and friends, and woodworking. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Doreen Aldrich of Vermilion; son, Sean Aldrich at home; daughters, June and Emily Aldrich both at home; and sister, Wilma Jean Boyd of Choctaw, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon "Bud" and Audrey (nee Carmichael) Aldrich and a brother, James Aldrich. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 9, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, OH. Funeral services will be Friday, July 10, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. The Pastor Josh Budka will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion where the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors.
