Michael Ronald "Ron" Cicerchi, 83 of Vermilion, died Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at New Life Hospice of St. Joseph, Lorain after a short illness. He was born September 6, 1926 in Cleveland and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 35 years. Ron was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving during WWII in the Pacific. He owned and operated Wings Hobby Shop in Lakewood for 41 years retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Vermilion Boat Club where he was known for his famous spaghetti dinners. He enjoyed sailing and racing sail boats. He owned many sail boats over the years and completed two transatlantic sailing trips. He also enjoyed gardening and cooking, especially Italian meals. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Anne (nee Janota); sons, Allan (Donna J.) Cicerchi of Sheffield Lake, Ronald Cicerchi, Vermilion, David Cicerchi, Grafton, Mark Cicerchi, Lorain; 6 grandchildren, Michael, Jessica, Susan, Rachel, Kimberley, Bryan; 4 great gradnchildren children, Peyton, Madeline, Clara and Alexandrea; and his brother, Philip (Eleanor) Cicerchi of Corning, New York. Preceding him in death were his parents, Philip and Evelyn (nee Komm) Cicerchi and a daughter-in-law, Mary Katherine. Friends may call Friday, May 14, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. Committal services will be private at Maple Grove Cemetery.
