Michael Edward Czarney, 70, of Vermilion, died Sunday, May 15, 2022 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born Oct. 8, 1951 in Lorain and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 33 years moving from Lorain. Michael worked in the restaurant business as a cook for over 20 years. Mike enjoyed the theater and had participated in dinner theater in his younger years. He also enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Cathy Denise (nee Kerns) Czarney of Vermilion; step daughter, Stefanie (Joe) Herchler of Vermilion; brothers, Tom (Mary Ann) Czarney of Avon, Bernie (Paulett) Czarney of FL, Jim Czarney of Lorain, and Paul (Elaine) Czarney of Lorian; sister, Mary McNair of Elyria; grandchildren, Jolie, Jacob and Justin; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael Matthew and Helen R. (nee Kaminski) Czarney and his brother, Joe Czarney. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 20, 2022 from 4-8 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
