Mildred A. Whitacre (nee Michelich), 92, of Norwalk, passed away Friday, November 18, 2016 at Stein Hospice after a lengthy illness. Mildred was born April 23, 1924 in Westlake, OH. She had been a Norwalk resident for the past 10 years. Before becoming a homemaker, she graduated from Western Reserve University in Cleveland and worked as a lab technician for DuPont in Cleveland. She was a former member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion and Our Lady Help of Christians, Nova. Mildred enjoyed reading, quilting, vegetable gardening, canning, taking care of and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, Lewis; children, Ralph (Marilyn) Whitacre, Linda Louise (Michael) Schubert, Beth Ann Ortegon, Kurt (Chris) Whitacre, and Larry (Diana) Whitacre; grandchildren, Rick, Gabriel, Gina, David, Jenna, Daniel, and Lucas; 1 great-grandchild, brothers, James (Joann) Michelich, John (Ruth) Michelich, and Thomas (Rita) Michelich; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna (nee Bohland) Michelich. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 from 4 to 8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion Ohio. Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 9:30 followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 am St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion, Ohio.
