Minnie Margerete Shipman

Minnie Margarete Shipman (nee Lundy), 88, of Vermilion, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Kingston of Vermilion after a brief illness. Minnie was born June 30, 1929 in Weedville, PA and had been a Vermilion resident since 1958 moving to Calodonia, PA for 19 years before moving back to Vermilion. Before becoming a resident at Kingston of Vermilion, Minnie volunteered for several events at the nursing home. During WWII, she worked at Sylvania Manufacturing in Emporium, PA. She also worked at Noon's Riverside Nursing Home, Ben Franklin, and Fisher Big Wheel, Vermilion. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Vermilion and Calidonia Methodist Church, PA. She had also attended the Vermilion E&R Church and was a life member of American Legion Auxiliary Post #397. She enjoyed crocheting, cake decorating, and oil painting. She is survived by her son, Elwood (Anita) Shipman of Vermilion, daughter, Irma "Jackie" Bohl of Golfport, FL, grandsons, Conrad Jr. and Matthew Bohl, and Jason Shipman; great grandchildren, Amanda, Matthew, Jacob, Sarah, Nicholas, Lucas and Zachary; her sister, Rena Sherwood of Caledonia, PA; and brother, Chester Lundy of Force, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elwood Shipman in 1993; parents, Leo T. and Adda (nee Tyler) Lundy; an infant son; and her brothers, Fulton and Donald Lundy. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 from 4:00 pm until the time of a memorial service at 5:00 pm at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. Pastor Marvin Osborn will officiate. Inurnment will take place Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 2:30 pm at Park Lawn Memorial Gardens, 14732 Boot Jack Road, Ridgeway, PA 15853.
