Michael Robert Yelensky, 56 of Lorain, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, while recovering from a recent motorcycle accident. He was born March 5, 1953 in Willard, Ohio and has lived in Lorain for over 30 years. He graduated from Vermilion High School in 1971 where he participated on the wrestling team. Upon completing high school, Mike attended Ashland University and also completed training in electrical and engineering work. He was employed at the Ford Motor Company as an electrician, working at both the former Lorain plant and most recently in Avon. He was also a plant volunteer firefighter and part of the emergency response team. Mike was both an avid motorcycle and Harley-Davidson enthusiast and a 3rd degree black belt TangSooDo competitor at the AJ Perry School of Martial Arts. Survivors include his parents, Robert and Carol (nee Thayer) Yelensky of Willard; daughters, Robin Yelensky of Vermilion and Ryanne Czuba of Vermilion; sons, Joshua Yelensky of Ft. Myers, Florida and Anthony Yelensky of Lorain; companion, Carol Mossa of Florence Twp; grandchildren, Gage Hanks and Lydia Czuba; sisters, Janice Flowers of Lorain, Carol Madera of Dayton and Roberta McVay of Cochocton; brother, James Yelensky of Isle St. George and former wife, Rebecca Bartunek of Sheffield Lake, Ohio. He was preceded in death by a son, Christopher in 1973, former wife, Mary Yelensky and sister, Yvonne Yelensky in 2000. Friends may call Sunday, March 15, 2009 from 12 to 5 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Services will be held on Monday, March 16, 2009 at 11:00 am at the Fellowship Baptist Church, 5046 Broadway, Lorain. Pastor Jack Ison will officiate. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
