Olive M. 'Tooky' Athey

Olive M. "Tooky" Athey (nee Jackson), 80, of Vermilion, died Thursday, June 9, 2011 at St. John West Shore Hospital after a short illness. Olive was born June 13, 1930 in Kinlock, PA. She had been a Vermilion resident since 1960 moving from Kinlock, PA. She was a nurse's aide at Citizens General Hospital, New Kensington, PA and Riverview Nursing Home in Vermilion and had been a home health care aid. She was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church and the First Baptist Church, Vermilion. She was active in Sunday school, had a children's choir and enjoyed swimming, gardening and cooking. She was the coordinator of the monthly church service at Mill Manor Nursing Home, Vermilion. She is survived by her daughters, Anna "Candy" Adams of Vermilion, and Shelley "Yoley" (Lawrence) Adams of Vermilion; 2 sons, Jack W. Athey of Marietta, GA, and Bob (LuAnn) Athey of Vermilion, 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Marie Rose of Orlando, FL, Norma Summers of Fort Meyers, FL,; 2 brothers, William Jackson of Lower Burrell, PA, and Raymond Jackson of New Kensington, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Thomas and Marguerite (nee Finke) Jackson and her sisters, Vivian Wylie, Virginia Scherf, Dorothy Danny, and Shirley Jackson. and brothers, Richard and David Jackson. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 12, 2011 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion, OH. Friends may also call Monday, June 13, 2011 from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 6716 West River Road, Vermilion, Ohio. The Reverend Donald Resecker will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
