Picture by E-Mail Oscar Douglas Sexton, 95 of Romulus, MI died Thursday, January 8, 2004 in Annapolis Hospital, Michigan after 5 month illness . He was born September 30, 1908 in Rush, Kentucky and lived in W. Virginia until 1956, he moved to the Vermilion area in 1960 and then moved to Romulus, MI in 1992. He worked as a coal miner for various coal mines in West Virginia and was the former Pastor of the Church of God in several locations in West Virginia. He was a member of Romulus Church of God, Romulus MI. He enjoyed repairing lawn mowers and carpentry. Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Marie Sexton; 3 sons, James Sexton of Lorain, Fred Sexton of Lorain, and David Sexton of Vermilion; 3 Daughters: Bessie Baker of Greenville, TN, Wanda Holderbaum of Westland, MI, and Myrna Baker of Lorain; 27 Grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; sister Arjeria "Jen" Birmingham of Wewahitchka, FL; stepsons, Charles Wells, Romulus, MI, Ray Wells, Missouir and Roger Wells, TN; and a step-daughter, Carolyn Stone, Hawaii. Preceding him in death were his parents, Oscar and Bertha (nee Banifield) sexton, 1st wife Mary (nee Belle) Sexton in 1984, 2 Brothers: Oran and Davis,4 Sisters: Auanelle, Mildred, Nora, and Natella; and a stepson, Wayne Wells. Friends may call Sunday Jan. 11, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Services will be held at the Riddle Funeral Home, Monday Jan. 12, 2004, at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Jim Cooper Officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
