Patricia Burkey

Patricia "Pat" Ann Burkey (nee Houston), 86, of Vermilion, died Friday, December 31, 2021 at her home after a lengthy illness. She was born November 20, 1935 in Memphis, TN and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 51 years. Pat was an active member of First Baptist Church, Vermilion where she taught Sunday School, was the craft coordinator, and served in the nursery. She was also a member AMVETS Post #22 Auxiliary. Pat was an avid bowler and enjoyed puzzles, reading, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her great grandson. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Knott of Vermilion; grandson, Zachary (Kelsey) Knott of Wakeman; and great-grandson, Spencer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerard "Jerry" George Burkey in 2010, parents, Horace and Maggie (nee Fowler) Houston; and her twin sister, Shirley Raffo in 2015. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022 from 5-7 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
