Patrick R. Verlotti

Patrick R. Verlotti, 70, of Vermilion, died Thursday, February 22, 2018 at his home after a complication from a 2 year fight with cancer. He was born March 6, 1947 in Detroit, MI and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 2 and a half years moving from Wellington. He was a veteran of the US AirForce serving during Vietnam. Patrick worked for the United States Post Office for 34 years, retiring from the Oberlin Post Office in 2001 as Postmaster. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion, VFW Post #7576, American Legion Post #397, AMVETS Post #22, Wellington Eagles, Red Cross, Lorain Co. Historical Society, Lorain Co. Rural Water, and the Vermilion Power Squadron where he had served as past commander. He was a past member of the Oberlin Rotary, and LMRE (Lorain Medina Rural Electric) where he had served on the board. He had also coached baseball with Little League North and South in Elyria and was also a youth hockey coach in Elyria. Patrick enjoyed golfing and participated on the Wellington Eagles golf league. He was a huge Detroit sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the Red Wings. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jean (nee Jackson) Verlotti of Vermilion; son, Rick (Tracy) Verlotti of Elyria; step daughter, Christina Hockey of Daniel Island, SC; daughter-in-law, Kim Corlett of Parma; grandchildren: Courtney, Kaitlyn, Nicholas, Ethan, and Xavier; sister, Antoinette "Toni" (Delmar) Ott of Elyria, Sharon (Michael) Klupenger of Henrietta Township, and Maryann (Gary Lilly) Verlotti of Lorain. He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Roberta June (nee Payne) Verlotti; and his step-son, Matthew Hockey in 2008. The family will receive friends on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018 from 3-7 pm and Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018 from 3-7 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. The Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct Military Honors at the funeral home at 7 pm on Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018. Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Monday, Feb. 26, 2018 at 10:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion. The Reverend Ron Brickner will officiate. Interment will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Avon.
