Patsy Devonis Garner (nee Phillips) 66, of Vermilion, died Sunday, January 8, 2006 at Cleveland Clinic after a sudden illness. She was born February 28, 1939 in Bernie, Missouri and had lived in Vermilion since 1960. She worked as a hairdresser and was a managing beautician for several beauty shops. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Madeleine Chapter #204, Dendarah Court No. 10, L.O.S.N.A. She was a former president of the Lorain County Women's Democratic Party and an elected Democratic Central Committee Member for precint 5A. She was a volunteer at Lorain Community Health Partners, a member of the Red Hat Club, a member of Lakeland Business Women's Club, the Cosmopolitan Dance Club and the 8-Ball Dance Club. She loved to cross stitch, garden and write poetry. Patsy gave the gift of sight through eye donation. Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Joseph M. Garner; daughters, Renae Born of Henrietta, Teresa (Jeannie) Lampe of Henrietta, Liza Johnston of Vermilion; son, Joe Garner, Jr. of Virginia Beach, VA; 6 grandchildren; sisters, Linda Drever, Mary Ann Trosper; brother, Darrell Phillips all of Missouri; brother, J.R. Phillips of New Mexico and many nieces and nephews. She was the Best Friend of All. Preceding her in death were her parents, Henry and Freda (nee Tanner) Phillips, sisters, Christine Burns, Barabara Moss and brothers, Jerry Don and Dalton Phillips. A memorial service will begin with the Order of Eastern Star service Thursday, January 12, 2006 at 4:30 p.m. at the United Church of Christ, 990 State Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Reverend Wendall Brooker, pastor will officiate for the memorial service. Memorial contributions may be made to Zenobia Temple-Oasis, 1511 Madison Ave, Toledo, Ohio 43624.
