Paul G. Kubishke

Paul Gustave Kubishke, 89, of Vermilion, passed Saturday, November 22, 2014 at New Life Hospice of St. Joseph after an extended illness. Paul was born February 2, 1925 in Florence Twp. and had been a lifelong area resident. He was a graduate of Vermilion High School, and a veteran of the Merchant Marines serving in the South Pacific during World War II. Paul worked for Yellow Freight System as a truck driver for 40 years retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Teamsters Local # 407. Paul enjoyed hunting, gardening, fishing, working, and spending time with his family. Paul is survived by his wife whom he married in 2004, Lois Maie King- Kubishke; daughter, Tammy Perry of Fitchville; sons, Tom (Bev) Gano of Redding, CA, Tab Kubishke of Wakeman; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sister, Elsie Hanson of Lorain; step-children Cindy (Charlie) Peterson of Spanishfork, UT, David (Jane) King of Vermilion, Cheryl King of Wakeman,Wanda (Jack) Ferjutz of Lagrange, Sherry (Mark) Brainard of Lorain, Chris (Lynn) King of South Amherst, and Brenda (Gregg) Gorsuch of Berlin Heights. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife who died on Aug. 12, 1991, Hazel (nee Beckett) Kubishke, son, Tod Gano, brothers, Richard Keller, Albert Kaye, Robert, Fritz, Edmond, and Emil Kubishke, parents, Gustav and Amelia (nee Albrecht) Kubishke, sisters, Natalia Gust, Emma Kubishke, and Bertha Stump. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 28th from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South St., Vermilion where funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Vermilion Veterans Council honors.
