Paul Dennis Marshall

Paul Dennis Marshall, 65 of Vermilion, died Sunday, May 24, 2009 in Life Care Center of Medina after a 2 year illness with Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS). He was born February 13, 1944 in Alliance, Ohio and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 20 years. He was a United States Air Force Veteran, serving in Europe and France from 1962-1966. Paul attended the Ohio State University and worked as an Air Traffic Controller for 38 years at the Oberlin Air Traffic Control Center. He was also a realtor for 20 years for Homemark Realty in Amherst. He was a member of the Vermilion United Church of Christ Congregational, where he served on the board for many years. He was also active with Vermilion In Bloom and a member of the American Legion Post 118 in Amherst. Paul enjoyed golfing, tennis, bowling and attending various sporting events. He was the president of the Villa Condo Association in Sunny Isles, Florida, where he spent his winters. Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Martha (nee Kotanidou) Marshall of Vermilion; daughters, Heather (Jeff) Marshall Murphy of Hillsboro and Wendy (Jim) Misner of Jacksonville, FL; mother, Dorothy Marshall (nee Drumm) of Columbus; step-daughters, Katerina Karmogiannis of Vermilion and Dena (Mark) Hartman (nee Karmogiannis) of Tipp City; 4 grandchildren: Nicholas Mark, Vasilios Constantine, Christian Paul, and Demetri Yanni; brothers, Wayne (Debra) Marshall of Columbus and Bruce (Patricia) Marshall of Youngstown; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Dareld David Marshall. Friends may call Wednesday, May 27, 2009 from 3-6 pm at the the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion and also on Thursday, May 28, 2009 from 10:00 am- until the time of service at 11:00 am at the United Church of Christ Congregational, 900 State Road, Vermilion. Reverend Wendell Brooker, pastor, will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
