Paul A Mayer

Paul A. Mayer, 79, of Vermilion, died Monday, February 22, 2016 at his home after a short illness. He was born January 9, 1937 in Vermilion where he had been a life long resident. Paul retired from the City of Vermilion's Parks and Recreation Department and also farmed most of his life. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion, AMVETS Post #22, and the Vermilion VFW Post # 7576. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his sons, Travis (Shelly) Mayer of Vermilion and James (Jacqueline ) Mayer of Vermilion; step sons, William A. Knoske of MO, Timothy M. Knoske of Vermilion, and Dirk A Knoske of MI, brothers, Joseph and Lester Mayer both of Vermilion; and grandchildren: Brittany, Courtney, Loren, Emilley, Hailee, Jacob, Billy, Dakota, and Lea. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene (nee Colvig) Mayer, parents, Nicholas and Wilhemina (nee Beursken) Mayer, brothers, Nicholas Jr., Robert, and Walter Mayer; and sister, Rosemary Ondrus. The family will receive friends on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016 from 2-4 pm at the Vermilion American Legion Post #397, 2713 State Rd., Vermilion, OH where food donations to share will be accepted.
