Paul Junior Perry of South Amherst was welcomed into the arms of Jesus Friday, July 3, 2015 after a short illness. Raised in West Virginia he joined the United States Army at the age of 16 in 1949 serving his country in The Korean War until being Honorably Discharged as a Corporal in 1952. It was in the Army that he met Rocco Simoniello, who became his life long friend and brother. After his discharge he moved to Ohio where he married Dolores "Dee" Alberts and worked for The Ford Motor company at both the Lorain and Avon Facilities until retirement in 1990. He was a member of American Legion Post 30, Lorain. Paul was a high average avid bowler for many years, bowling on many teams and in many tournaments in the United States. He loved camping, playing the guitar and singing, fishing, doing yard work and being the family "Fix Anything Man". Above all, his life was his wife and family and being with them was his greatest joy. Paul leaves behind (until we meet again) his loving devoted wife of 61 years Dolores A. Perry (nee Alberts). Together they were what soul mates and marriage should be and were a true example to all who knew them as a couple. He also leaves behind his adoring daughters, Valinda Janeen (Brad) Goodrich of Milan and Sharon (Darrel) Kurth of Berlin Heights; grandchildren, Steven (Nikki) Goodrich and their sons, Brandon and Matthew, Jeremy (Elise) Kurth, Deanna (Chad) Irwin and their son Christian; brother, Jerry Perry; sisters, Joyce (Frankie) Hall and Trudy Vickers of West Virginia. He will be desperately missed by his entire family and many friends. When Paul passed into Heaven a bright light was extinguished on earth making it a bit darker but arriving in Heaven making it even brighter and sweeter having him there. Paul was proceeded in death by his mother Nora Katherine Perry; brothers, Cecil and Harold Perry; sisters, Faye Perry and Athelene Gore; and dear friend and brother, Rocco Simoniello. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from 4-8 p.m at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, OH. Funeral services will be in the funeral home on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 11 a.m. Pastor Kenneth Hiser will officiate. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst where Lorain V.F.W. Post # 451 and American Legion Post # 30 Honor Guard will conduct military graveside services. The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Reseach Hospital PO Box 1000 Dept 142 Memphis, TN 38101-9908 . Online condolences may be made at www.riddlefuneralhome.com.
