Paul A. Peterson, 80 of Birmingham, died Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at his home. He was born December 20, 1929 in Duffield, Virginia and has been a Birmingham area resident since 1959. He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.. Paul worked as a quality control inspector for the Ford Motor Company in Lorain for 30 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of Amvets Post #22, American Legion Post #397, VFW Post #7576, Past Commander of the VFW Post #4200, UAW #425, and Masons Stonington Lodge #503, Amherst. He enjoyed billiards, boating, fishing, hunting, woodworking, gardening and was an avid Indians fan. Survivors include his daughter, Paula (John) Mullins of Amherst; sons, Eddie (Terri) Peterson of Lorain and Roger Peterson of Lorain; 6 grandchildren: Brandon, Christine, Joshua, Tanya, Christian and Isaac; 5 great-grandchildren: Julie, Krystal, Hailey, Allison and Matthew; his former wife and friend, Thelma Peterson, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Ernest and Bertha (nee Bishop) Peterson; brothers: Ray, Billy and Eddie; and sisters: Rose Barlow, Evelyn Davis and Sybil Frey. A memorial service will be held on Saturday Feb. 20, 2010 at 12 Noon at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, with the Vermilion Veterans Council conducting military honors.
