Paul D. Richards, 82, of Vermilion, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Mercy Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born on September 3, 1942, in Steubenville, OH, Paul spent the past 30 years in Vermilion after moving from Parma.
A proud veteran, Paul honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
He dedicated over 20 years to Parma City Schools as a custodian, retiring in 2005 as the head custodian of Parma Senior High School.
Paul was a member of AMVETS Post #22 and American Legion Post #118. In his free time, he enjoyed shopping, baking, as well as spending time in the outdoors hiking, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Susan "Sue" (nee Schreurs) Richards of Vermilion; his son, Paul H. (Beth) Richards of Maine; granddaughter, Sophia Cesares; brothers, Edwin "Sonny" Richards of Cleveland and David Richards of Cleveland; sister, Kathryn Richards of New Jersey; and many nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Charlotte (nee Rutkoski) Richards; his daughter, Michelle Richards; his twin sister, Pauline Tretock; and his sister, Roberta "Bobbi" Berman.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, April 4, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 6:00 p.m. at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Military honors will be presented just before the memorial service at 6:00 p.m.
