Paul David Young

Paul D. Young, 70, of Vermilion, died Monday, June 10, 2013 at Mercy Regional Medical Center after a 6 week illness. Paul was born January 27, 1943 in Philadelphia, PA, He had been a Vermilion resident since 1961. He was a graduate of the Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia and served in the National Guard. Paul worked for the Lorain and Avon Lake Ford Motor Co. in Quality Control. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and a life member of the Vermilion AMVETS Post 22. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Past Grand Knight of the 3rd Degree of the Knights of Columbus, Past Faithful Navigator of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Bishop Machebeuf Assembly, Sandusky. He was a member of UAW Local 425 and 2000. He enjoyed reading, history, walking, yard work, his mustang convertible, Fox News and politics. He was a dear and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and cousin. He looked forward to the holidays and traveling to visit family and friends. He loved treating his grandchildren to candy, ice cream and to see the trains. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marlene (nee Martin) Young of Vermilion; daughter, Michelle (Jeff) Waldron of Dublin; grandchildren, Taylor, Michael, Quinn and Lauren; and a brother, William (Carol) Young of Philadelphia, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Anna (nee Collins) Young. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 14, 2013 from 4 pm - 8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Prayers will be said at the funeral home at 9 am on Saturday, June 15, 2013 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion, Reverend Father Ron Brickner will officiate.
