Penny C. Porter

Penny C. Porter (nee Byrd), 56, of Vermilion, died Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Ames Family Hospice House after a lengthy illness. She was born in 1963 in Amherst and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 19 years moving from Amherst. Penny worked for Comfort Keepers as a Home Health Care Aide for 13 years. She was a life member of the Amherst V.F.W.Post #1662 Ladies Aux. She enjoyed gardening and especially enjoyed crafts. She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Lawrence Porter of Vermilion; brothers, Bobby McGhee, Jack McGhee, and Robbie Gravely; and her sisters, Sheila Hensely, Sherrill Cutlip, Hope Casteele, and Sandy Gravely. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Ruby Byrd and her infant sister, Mary Ann McGhee. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 10, 2019 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Funeral services will be Monday, March 11, 2019 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. The Pastor Ed Young will officiate. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
