Peter Pavlich Jr.

Peter S. Pavlich, Jr., 89, of Vermilion, died Monday, April 4, 2022 at Mercy Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born February 23, 1933 in Lorain and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 65 years moving from Lorain. Peter worked for Ford Motor Co. as a truck driver for 35 years retiring in 1994. He was involved with the UAW #425, holding several titles. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and took the sacraments to those in Nursing Homes and Hospitals. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, serving as Grand Knight and 4th Degree Faithful Navigator. He was also a member of AMVETS Post #22, Lorain County Bee Keepers, chairman of the retirees automotive workers Local #425, and he was a Captain and Chaplin for the Vermilion Fire Department Station #2. Peter enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family and beloved dog, Charlie. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Earlene (nee Hovey) Pavlich of Vermilion; daughter, Tracie (Jay) McBride of Vermilion; sons, Bruce (Shelly) Pavlich of McClure, OH and Brent (Bird Falbo) Pavlich of Amherst; 13 grandchildren: Justin, Blake, Brett, Matthew, Christopher, Makenzie, Samuel, Sean, Dan, Andrew, Anne, Sam, and Tyler; great grandchildren, C.J., Addelynne, Beckham, and Gwenyth. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Andrea Kay Pavlich in 2000; parents, Peter Sr. and Mary (nee Hunyad) Pavlich; son-in-law, Eugene Kiss; brothers, Frank and Edward Pavlich; and his sisters, Mary Wisniewski, Barbara Ann Pavlich, and Betty Swetz. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 8, 2022 from 4-7 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a 1:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion, OH 44089. Father Paul Schreiner will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
