Philip J Kudela, aged 90, peacefully passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Kingston of Vermilion, following an extended illness.
He was born on March 28, 1933, in Vermilion, OH, where he cherished lifelong roots.
Philip dedicated himself to serving his country as a pilot in the United States Air Force, retiring with the esteemed rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
He was a member of Amvets Post #22 and American Legion Post #397. Beyond his service, Philip found joy in pursuits such as golfing, flying, bowling, and immersing himself in books as an ardent reader.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Stephen (Ginger) Kudela, Philip (Nancy) Kudela, and Kent (Rhonda) Kudela all of Moultrie, GA; stepdaughters, Debi (Pete) Stanford of Goshen, OH, and Christine (Dan Nash) Good of Lorain, OH; stepsons, David (Mary Mayer) Good and Keith Good, both of Amherst, OH; many grandchildren; several great grandchildren; his brother, Thomas Kudela, and many nieces and nephews.
Philip was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley (nee Szekely) Kudela, his parents, Charles S. and Mary (nee Podracky) Kudela, and his brothers, Charles, Julius, and Andrew Kudela.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday Dec. 7, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Following the service, interment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery, accompanied by Military Honors.
