Phyllis Szabo

Phyllis Jacqualine Szabo (nee Konieczny), 78 of Lorain, died Saturday, July 1, 2006 in New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph after a sudden illness. She was born April 17, 1928 in Lorain, OH where she has been a life long resident. She graduated from Lorain High School and worked for Sutters Restaurant, Aldens Catalog Store, and Joseph and Fiess all in Lorain. She was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Lorain and St. Lads Society. She enjoyed reading, knitting, shopping, cooking, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Bert Szabo; sons, Dave and William Szabo of Lorain; daughter, Mary Stempowski of Amherst: 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and brother, James Konieczny of Lorain. Preceding her in death were her parents, Jacob and Charlotte (nee Bobrowski) Konieczny, and brother, Robert Konieczny. Friends may call Wednesday, July 5, 2006 from 4-8 p.m. at the Dombrowski-Humphrey-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio. Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Thursday July 6, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 418 W. 15th St. Lorain. The Reverend Robert Glepko, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. Contributions may be made to the New Life Hospice of St. Joseph, 5255 N.
