Ralph V. Gallion, 77 of Vermilion, died Saturday, April 24, 2010 in Community Health Partners, following a brief illness. He was born March 2, 1933 in Coalgrove, Ohio and had lived in Lorain until moving to Vermilion in 1977. Ralph was a veteran of the United State Air Force, serving from 1951-1959. Ralph worked as an auto worker for the Ford Motor Company at both the Lorain and Avon Lake Assembly Plants. He retired in 1993 after 32 years of service. Following his retirement at Ford, he worked as a security guard for Nordson. He was a lifetime member of AMVETS Post 22 and member of American Legion #397 and VFW Post 7576, all in Vermilion . He was also a member of Ely Lodge # 424 in Vermilion and the Scottish Rite. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was an avid reader, sports fan and NASCAR enthusiast. Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Peggy L. Gallion (nee Whaley) of Vermilion; daughter, Rachel L. Gallion of Oberlin; sons, Joey Lee Griffith of South Carolina, James P. Griffith of Hilliard, Adam L. Gallion of Vermilion and Timothy D. Gallion of Lorain; grandchildren, Corena B. Griffith, Jason L. Griffith, Wesley J. Gallion, Lamar A. Gallion and Kennedy J. Alston; sisters, Edith Marie Gallion and Helen Arlene Gallion; brother, Ellis E. Gallion, Jr.. Preceding him in death were his, parents, Ellis E. and Gladys M. (nee Wilson) Gallion and a brother, Donald Gallion. Friends may call Wednesday, April 28, 2010 from 3:00 pm until the time of service at 6:00 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Masonic services will be conducted and veteran honors will be presented by the Vermilion Veteran's Council. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society Ohio Division Inc., 10501 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44106.
