Raymond C. Boyd, 72, of Milan, died Tuesday, November 17, 2009 in Fisher-Titus Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born July 6, 1937 in Dana, Kentucky, and had lived in Vermilion since the 1960's. He worked in the paint department, and was a line transfer and utility relief set up man for Ford Motor, Lorain, for 30 years retiring in 1969. He attended Birmingham United Methodist Church, was a member of UAW #425. He was mechanically inclined and did handy man repairs. He enjoyed gardening and hunting. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Sharon (nee Klinger) Boyd; sons, Terry Ray (Sandy) Boyd of Norwalk, Rick Boyd of Buckhannon, WV; daughter, Darlene (Kevin) Helmick of Buckhannon, WV; step son, Andrew "Skip" Dodson; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brothers, Asbury Boyd and Virgil Boyd, Jr. both of Tram, KY; sister, Rosie Jarrells of Tram, KY, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Virgil and Vana Boyd; sisters, Judy Boyd, Inez Boyd, Larcie Boyd, Ottawa Akers and Elizabeth Lewis; and brothers J.B. Boyd, Hezzie Boyd, Robert Boyd, Nola Boyd, and Randy Boyd. Friends may call Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009 from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. at the Birmingham United Methodist Church, 15018 South Street, Birmingham, Ohio. The Reverend Richard K. Kretchmar, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Birmingham Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Birmingham United Methodist Church, 15018 South St. Birmingham, Ohio 44816. Arrangments are entrusted to Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion.
