Raymond Thomas Cioffi

Raymond Thomas Cioffi, 64, of Vermilion, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2012 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph after a short illness. Ray was born November 7, 1947 in Bradford , PA and was a 1966 graduate of Admiral King High School. He had been a Vermilion resident for the past year, moving from Amherst and Louisville, KY. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam Era. He was a personnel specialist at Fort Detrick, MD. He earned an associates degree from Lorain County Community College and received his Certificate of Management from Case Western Reserve University. Ray worked as a Consultant for Human Arc in Cleveland. Early in his career he developed the first HMO for Blue Cross-Blue Shield of Cleveland. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion. He was also member of Consumers Club in Cleveland and Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed shopping, collecting steins, model cars and going to flea markets. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Dottie (nee Sparks) Cioffi of Vermilion; sons, Michael (Gretchen ) Cioffi of Lorain, and Christopher Cioffi of Los Angeles, CA; granddaughter, Giada Cioffi; brother, Tony (Nora ) Cioffi of Amherst, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nadia Horning, and his parents, John and Matilda (nee Alimento) Cioffi. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 30, 2012 from 2:30 pm - 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion, Ohio. Prayers will be said in the funeral home on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 10:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion with the Father Ron Brickner officiating.
