Rebecca Missig (nee Wellner), 52, of Vermilion, died Monday, December 27, 2021 at her home after a lengthy illness. She was born January 28, 1969 in Lorain and has been a life long Vermilion resident. Rebecca worked as a Trooper for the State Highway Patrol, retiring after 31 years. She was also a certified Police Instructor and taught classes at Lorain Community College, EHOVE, and Sandusky High School. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Parish, Volunteer Bay, Vermilion, Amvets Post #22, American Legion Post #397, and VFW Post #7576. Rebecca enjoyed watching Ohio State Football, crafts, and bowling. She was always on the go and put others before herself. She is survived by her husband of 9 years, Richard Missig of Vermilion; son, Kaleb Missig of Vermilion; step daughter, Brittany (Eric) Schreiner of Vermilion; grandson, Aaron Schreiner; sisters, Cheri Patton of Sandusky, Elaine (Allan) Rigo of Lorain, Veronica Lemke of Vermilion, Renee Lemke of Las Vegas, and Judith Keith of Las Vegas; and her brothers, Willaim "Randy" (Kathy) Pace of Lorain and Ronald (Debbie) Wellner of Amherst. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ronald and Wilma (nee Christian) Lemke and her father, Walter Wellner. A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Parish, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion, OH 44089. Private inurnment will take place at Rugby Cemetery.
