Reverend Myrtle Elizabeth Eppler

Reverend Myrtle Elizabeth Eppler (nee Howell),100 , of Vermilion went to be with the Lord on March 16, 2016 at Mercy Regional Medical Center after a short illness. Myrtle was born May 5, 1915 in Vermilion to George and Lillian (nee Handy) Howell. She was a resident of Vermilion most of her life except for several years in Los Angeles, California. She graduated from Vermilion South Street High School in 1934 and from L.I.F.E. Bible College in Los Angeles, CA in 1949 as a gold star student. She was ordained to the ministry in 1951. She and her late husband, Reverend Rolland R. (Tom) Eppler, were pastors at the Vermilion Foursquare Church for 13 years. She was also the pastor for the Fredericktown, Ohio Church for 2 years. While in Fredericktown, she took extra classes at the Mount Vernon Ohio Foursquare Bible College. She had also served as Christian Director of Sunday School and as an elder and visitation minister at the Family Fellowship Church in Amherst where she was still teaching Bible Classes. She was a member of the Amherst Family Fellowship Church and had been a member of the Teamster's Retiree Club Local #571 (now Local #20). She and her late husband enjoyed traveling in the United States, Mexico and Canada. She also enjoyed a mission trip to Honduras, watching the Cleveland Indians (throwing out the first pitch after she turned 100), and doing crossword and jig saw puzzles. She leaves her son, Ronald (Beverly) Eppler, Amherst; 3 grandsons, Mitchell, Michael (Darlene) and Steven (Rose); 6 great grandchildren, James, Nicholas, Amber (Jeremy), Matthew, Shawn and Victoria. She has two great great grandchildren, Noah and Emily (5 generations). She also leaves one step great granddaughter, Melissa Courts (Jared) and their sons, Caleb and Liam. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, of 69 years, Reverend Rolland (Tom) R. Eppler; her parents; a brother, Irvin G. Howell, 5 sisters, Violet Howell, Vera L Barnes, Jessie F. Sprunk and Alice R. Fleming. Friends may call Sunday, March 20, 2016 from 4-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. Funeral services will be Monday, March 21, 2016 at 10:00 am at the Family Fellowship Church, 780 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, Ohio. Pastor William Mouer and Pastor James Cooper will co-officiate. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
