Reverend Kenneth R. Schultz

Reverend Kenneth R. Schultz, 70 years of age, and a resident of Vermilion, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2015 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph after a short illness. Born March 8, 1945 in Viroqua, WI, Ken came to Vermilion in 1987 where he resided until his death. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served in the Vietnam War. After his service ended, Ken graduated from Fort Wayne Bible College in Indiana. He continued his education and received his master's degree from Alliance Theological Seminary-Nyack College in New York. Ken was ordained a Christian and Missionary Alliance pastor. He began his career serving the Lord in Pennsylvania at Keely Christian and Missionary Alliance Church followed by Trees Mills Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. Ken moved to Vermilion in 1987 to become the pastor at Vermilion Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. Ken was also a faithful servant of the Lord as a Chaplin for Sandusky Providence Hospital, Northeast Care Center in North Royalton, St. Luke's Medical Center in Cleveland, and St. Vincent's Charity Medical Center in Cleveland. He loved serving his community. Ken worked for the Vermilion YMCA for 18 years and was a bus driver for Vermilion Schools for 12 years. He was an active member of Lakeview Baptist Church. Ken took great pride in continuing ministry through teaching Sunday School, volunteering at Kingston Nursing Home, and assisting with Vacation Bible School programs. Ken loved his family dearly and was proud of all of them. He enjoyed attending his children's high school sporting events and he treasured all the time he spent with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of two years, Vera "Lovella" Schultz of Vermilion; daughter, Kim (Steve) Mroczek of Pleasant Ridge, MI; son, Josh Schultz of Detroit, MI; grandchildren, Alexis and Blake Mroczek; step children, Linda (Larry) Randall, Vera (Joseph) Goss, Fred (Dana) Warren, Marlene (Preston) Lopetrone, Diana (Tim) Markwood, Daniel (Debbie) Warren; sister, Shirley (Jerome) Doll of WI; brother, Leroy (Amy Millard) Schultz of WI; and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 26 years, Lois "Dolores" Schultz; his parents, Cyrus and Vivian (nee Gorrell) Schultz; and his brother, Richard Schultz. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 21, 2015 from 3pm to 6 pm at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion, OH. Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors at 6pm on Monday, September 21st. The family will also receive friends on Tuesday, September 22nd from 10am to 11am prior to the funeral service. The funeral service will be at 11am at Lakeview Baptist Church, 591 Ferndale Ave. Vermilion, OH. The Reverend Cliff Morris will officiate. Interment will be on Tuesday, September 22nd at 3pm at Spring Mill Cemetery in Mansfield, OH.
