Richard G. Briggs, 63, of Lorain, died Friday, August 26, 2016 at Metro Health Medical Center surrounded by his loved ones after a motorcycle accident. Richard was born January 28, 1953 in Bellevue and had been a Lorain resident for the past 20 years moving from Vermilion. He was a veteran of the US Air Force serving in Thailand as a dog handler during Vietnam. Richard worked for Ford Motor Co., Lorain on the assembly line for 34 years retiring in 2005. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. Richard was an avid motorcycle rider. He also loved social outings and cooking for his friends and family. He is survived by his daughters, Sonia Briggs of Berlin Hts. and Ayla Briggs of Huron, grandchildren, Joscelyn Turner, Jazmine Johnson, and Rihana Briggs; brothers, Gene Briggs of Clyde and Preston Cameron of FL; sister, Carol Lannon of TN; former wife, Kandy Briggs of Huron. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Edith (nee Shaver) Briggs. The family will receive friends on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016 from 12 noon until the time of a memorial service at 2:00 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion Ohio. Pastor David L. Arp will officiate. The Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct Military Honors just prior to the memorial service. Online condolences may be made at www.riddlefuneralhome.com.
