Richard N Capan

Richard Nicholas Capan, 77, of Vermilion, was called home by his Lord on Veteran's Day, Sunday, November 11, 2018 after a brief illness. Richard was born February 18, 1941 in New Brighton, PA to Nickolas and Anna Marie (nee Seman) Capan. His family lived in Beaver Falls, PA until moving to East Palestine when he was six to a farm where he loved riding horses and farming with his father. He attended the Unity School and graduated from East Palestine School in 1959. He attended Youngstown University and served in the Strategic Air Command Air Force in Michigan and Morocco from 1960 to 1964. Rich graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. He was employed as an office manager by ITT Grinnell for five years and Toledo Edison/First Energy for 25 years. During this time, he also did trade embalming for Neidecker- LeVeck Funeral Home in Port Clinton for ten years. He loved his country and its flag. He was a proud veteran and a member of Amvets Post #22 until he was no longer able to attend. Rich had been a member of Immaculate Conception, Port Clinton and enjoyed hunting with his dad, boating, fishing with his family, playing the piano, singing, and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also enjoyed doting on his grandchildren. He loved watching McKenna, Aidan, and Landon participate in their extracurricular school activities. Richard married Bonnie Lynn (nee McGuckin) on June 10, 1967 and they were married for over 51 years. They made Vermilion their home for the past 10 years, moving from Port Clinton. They are the parents of son, Nick Capan of Vermilion; daughter, Lisa (Michael) Clark of Vermilion and Venango, PA; grandchildren, McKenna, Aidan, and Landon Kidd; step grandchildren, Mindie (Bobby) Bragan, Tayler (Carl) Parkin, and Caleb Clark; step great grandson, Wesley Bragan; sister, Lynn (Ray) Chaplow of Dallas, TX, niece, Stacy Chaplow; nephew, Chris (Kathy) Chaplow; aunt, Mary Delach of Austin Town, OH; and many other loving family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, several aunts, uncles and cousins. A Celebration of Richard's Life will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Monica's Catholic Church, 116 Thorndale Dr., Beaver Falls, PA 15010. A luncheon will follow. Inurnment will be at a later date in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery in Beaver Falls. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in his name to Marian Jones Scholarship Fund, Clearview Federal Credit Union, Chippewa, PA 15010 or any Veteran's organization.
