Richard "Dick" I. Baker

Richard "Dick" I. Baker, 89, of North Olmsted, died Monday, January 23, 2023 after a lengthy illness.

He was born November 10, 1933 in Willoughby, OH and had been a North Olmsted resident for the past 55 years moving from Bay Village and Lakewood.

Dick was a veteran of the US Marines.

Dick started his 47 year career with Dodge auto sales at Podway Dodge, Lakewood and Bard-Pelunis Dodge, Strongsville, before owning and operating Dick Baker Dodge in Vermilion for 25 years.  He had also worked as a patrolman for Bay Village Police Department and as the Bailiff for the Vermilion Municipal Court.

He was a member of the Lakewood Methodist Church and AMVETS Post #22, Vermilion.  He had also belonged to the Cleveland Auto Dealers, Northern Ohio Auto Dealers, National Auto Dealers, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Walter P. Chrysler Club, Ohio Bailiffs Association and the Put-In-Bay Homeowners Association.  He was also a member of the Vermilion Chamber of Commerce where he served as President in 1982.  He also served as President for the Vermilion Rotary in 1982, had 30 years of perfect attendance and received the Paul Harris Fellow.

He enjoyed assisting the Baystormers Bi-Plane Tours on Put-In-Bay. He received his private pilots license and also enjoyed flying and collecting cars.

He is survived by his daughter, Nancy (Ed) Sergi of North Olmsted; sons, Ronald (Kathy) Baker of Vermilion and Thomas (Kelly) Baker of Vermilion; grandchildren, Dominic and Donovan Sergi and Morgan, Mackenzi, Kristen and Aaron Baker; 1 great grandchild; and his cat Max.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia in 2018; parents, Joseph and Elfrida (nee Fraunfelder) Baker and twin children, David Allen and Patricia Ann Baker.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 6:00 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio.  The Reverend Jim Cooper will officiate.  Veteran Honors will be presented just prior to the Memorial Service at 6 p.m.
