Richard John Karkellie, age 62, of Lorain, died Tuesday, June 14, 2005 in Community Health Partners. He was born November 30, 1942 in Amherst and lived in Lorain until his retirement in 1985. He had lived in Griffin, Georgia until 2002, moving back to Lorain due to health problems. He was a graduate of Lorain High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1960-1963. He retired as an electrician, working at both the Lorain and Ohio Assembly Plants for Ford after 19 years of service. He was a member of Mid-Century Masonic Lodge of Avon Lake, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite 32nd Degree Valley of Cleveland and the Al Koran Temple of Cleveland. He enjoyed fishing , gardening and helping others. Survivors include a sister, Shirley Ostang of Lorain; one niece and several nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Simon and Jessie (nee Deptowicz) Karkellie, brothers, Simon G. and Ronald J. Karkellie and a sister, Frances Christie. Private family services were held.
