Richard Louis Mulder

Richard Louis "Dick" Mulder, 80 of Amherst, died Monday, September 28, 2009 in New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph following a lengthy illness. Dick was born on April 16, 1929 in Amherst and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Amherst High School in 1948. He was a self employed contractor who built and remodeled homes in the Lorain County area throughout his life. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He coached summer league baseball for 12 years, and enjoyed many hobbies, including hunting, fishing and bird watching. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joyce (nee Kovach); daughter, Michele Mariotti of Elyria, sons, Richard "Kim" Mulder of Amherst and Duane Mulder of Temperance, Michigan; grandchildren, Jill, Scott, Mara, Mia, Sarah and Emma; great-grandson, Brody; brother, Douglas Mulder of Oberlin; sisters, Yvonne Merrill and Gwen Larusso, both of Arizona, Carol Wilson of Florida and Nancy Robishaw of New York. He was preceded-in-death by his parents, Karl and Clara (nee Pierce) Mulder, brother Donald Mulder and sister, Virginia Jean McKenzie. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at 11:00 am in the chapel at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst. Rev. Lawrence N. Martello, pastor, will officiate. Private burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, Amherst. Memorial contributions are suggested to New Life Hospice, 5255 N. Abbe Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035.
