Richard Olds

SAN FRANCISCO - Richard C. Olds, age 80, passed away at his home June 24, 2010 after a brief illness. He was born in Akron, Ohio. He was preceded in death by the parents who adopted him, Harold and Gertrude Olds, and by his step-mother, Esther Olds. Richard is survived by a step-sister, Karen Cunningham, of Florida, and by his former wife, Linda Mansfield, of Dayton, Ohio. Richard was a 1948 graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. He attended the University of Akron and Kent State University from which he graduated. In 1962, he graduated from the University of Cincinnati Medical School. Soon after, he moved to San Francisco and worked for the Southern Pacific Railway Hospital until 1976. He then was in private practice in internal medicine until he retired in 1996. Richard had a love of jazz and antique cars all his life. He was especially fond of annual trips to the Concourse d'Elegance held each year at Pebble Beach. He will be missed by his many friends both in Ohio and San Francisco. Richard's request was to have a direct burial in the Birmingham, Ohio, cemetery with his family members. No memorial service is planned.
