Richard Paul Zagorski, Sr., 78 of Vermilion, died Monday, December 29, 2008 in Southwest General Health Center, Cleveland after a four month illness. He was born September 26, 1930 in Kingston, PA and has been a Vermilion resident for the past 43 years. He was a United States Air Force veteran serving from 1950-1960 during the Korean War. He retired from the Lorain Ford Plant in 1997 after 35 years. He had also worked for the coal mines and the steel mills as a young man. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, Vermilion. Richard enjoyed playing cards and shooting pool. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and sharing his great sense of humor. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marcheta (nee Kalkhaoff) Zagorski; a daughter, Wanda (Jon) Jonsson of Vermilion; sons, James W. Gilliam of Rowlett, TX, Benjamin Paul (Sharon) Zagorski of Avon, and Richard Paul Zagorski, Jr. of Wyandotte, MI; grandchildren, Vanessa, Ian, Brianna and Savannah Gilliam; Paul and Amanda Zagorski, Richard Paul III, Wanda, and Christi Zagorski; and Katherine, Margaret, and Stefan Jonsson; a great grandchild, Anthony Zagorski and a sister, Barbara Baigis of Shavertown, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter Paul and Verna (nee Maryanski) Zagorski and a sister, Delores Albin. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 2, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Amherst Church of the Nazarene, 210 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, Ohio 44001. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Amherst Church of the Nazarene . Pastor Rich Henry and Reverend Michael Levelle will co-officiate.
