Robert L. Blankinsop, 85, of Wakeman, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Admiral's Pointe, Huron after brief illness. Robert was born June 11, 1931 in Washington, PA. He had been a Wakeman resident for the past 43 years moving from Lorain. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps. Robert retired as a foreman of 3 Seamless Hot Mill at US Steel after 35 years of service, and retired from Invacare after 10 years. He enjoyed bowling, farming, spending time with his family, and country living. He is survived by his children, Susan Dreger of Wakeman, John (Linda) Blankinsop of N. Fairfield, David (Cindy) Blankinsop of Clermont, FL, Nancy (Guy) Learmonth of Wakeman, Bill (Jackie) Blankinsop of Berlin Heights, and Donald (Bari Jo "BJ") Blankinsop of Greenwich; sisters, Shirley Martino, Fay (Harry) Megyesy , and Kay Sedora, all of PA; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean (nee Grimm) Blankinsop; parents, Charles and Lulu (nee Poland) Blankinsop; sister, Jane Wilson; and brother, Ray Blankinsop. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 5, 201 from 4-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. The Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 11:00 am followed by a funeral service at the funeral home. The Reverend Garry Smith will officiate.
