Robert Joseph Blazina, 82 of Sheffield Lake, died Friday, March 20, 2009 in Community Health Partners, Lorain after a lengthy illness. He was born November 10, 1926 in Amherst, Ohio and has been a Sheffield Lake resident for that past 15 years moving from Lorain. He was a WWII Navy veteran receiving the WWII Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific and American Theater Ribbons. He worked as a deep sea frogman (underwater welder) in the Navy and as a welder supervisors for the Army Corp of Engineers for 37 years. He enjoyed graphic designing, building model airplanes, and playing the harmonica. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Wendy Blazina of Sheffield Lake; daughter, Robin Sharkey of Sheffield Lake; and 6 grandchildren, Robert and Alyssa Blazina, Monique, Cierra, Jeffery, and Jacob Sharkey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Wanda (nee Klekota) Blazina; and brother Don Blazina. Private services will be held. Arrangements entrusted to Dombrowski-Humphrey-Riddle Funeral Home, Lorain.
