Robert Charles Cooper

Robert Charles Cooper, 79, of Vermilion, died Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Mercy Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born January 21, 1939 in Memphis, TN and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 59 years moving from Memphis. Robert graduated from Memphis Tech High School and was a veteran of the US Army. He worked for Ford Motor, Lorain in the stock department for 25 years and in the clean up department for 10 years retiring in 1994. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church, Vermilion where he sang in the choir, volunteered in the nursery, and helped teach second grade Sunday School. He was also a member of Local #425. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Avonell "Eve" (nee Shepherd) Cooper of Vermilion; daughter, Sally Cooper, of Amherst; son, Timothy Cooper of Vermilion; and his grandsons, Robert Joseph "Joe" and Jacob A. Hennes. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Lydia (nee Noles) Cooper, brothers, Glen, Virgil Jr., and Henry Ford Cooper; and his sisters, Evelyn Parsons and Leoma Hammett. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 18, 2018, from 4:00 pm until the time of a funeral service at 6:30 pm at the Lakeview Baptist Church, 591 Ferndale Ave., Vermilion, OH. The Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct Military Honors just prior to the service. Reverend Cliff Morris and Bill Rowe will co-officiate. Friends may also call at the Log Pile Church, 56839 Log Pile Rd., Ray, OH on Saturday, October 20, 2018 from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Byers Cemetery, Byer, OH.
