Robert J Hartle

Robert J. Hartle, Sr., 74, of Vermilion, died Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph after a short illness. He was born May 3, 1939 in Amherst and had been a life long Amherst and Vermilion resident. Robert was a veteran of the US Army. He worked for the Lorain County Metro Parks for 39 years retiring in 1999. He had worked as the park operation supervisor and the interim director. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion, founding member of Operation Open Heart, and a life member of AMVETS Post #22 . Robert had a great sense of humor and loved joking around. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, music, and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Anne (nee Nelson) Hartle; daughters, Stacey Marie of Vermilion, Danielle Hartle of Dumfries, VA; and Sheryl Hartle; sons, Robert Jr., William, and Jeffery Hartle; 3 grandchildren, Aaron, Laura and Nathaniel; brother Earl Hartle; and sister, June Cherney. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Sr. and Helen (nee Homitz) Hartle; brother, Frank Jr.; and sister, Irene Cherney. A celebration of Bob's Life will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2014 from 2-4 pm at the Carriage Barn at Mill Hollow Park 51211 North Ridge Road Vermilion, OH 44089.
