Robert W. Herhold, 74, of Vermilion, died Thursday, December 18, 2014 at his home after a sudden illness. Robert was born March 31, 1940 in Sandusky, and has been a Vermilion resident most of his life. He was a veteran of the US Air Force. Robert worked for Ford Motor Co., Lorain as a loading Clerk for 45 years retiring in 2007. He had attended Sandhill Free Will Baptist Church, Sandusky and the Church of the Open Door, Elyria. He was a member of the UAW #425, Amvets Post #22, and a former member of the American Legion #397. Bob enjoyed traveling, antiquing, and his true passion was Lake Erie, whether it was boating on it or just sitting and watching the lake. His true passion was his wife and his family. He is survived by his wife of 3 years, Angeline "Angie" (nee Winebarger) Sprowl; son Shawn Herhold of Tallmadge; daughter, Olwen (William) Balhorn of Brecksville; grandchildren: William, Zachary, Jessica, and Jonathan; step-daughters, Helen (Andy) Altimas of Bristol, England, Valerie Puckett of Norwalk and Sherrie Sanderson of Heartsville, SC; 6 step-grandchildren; 5 step-great grandchildren; and brothers, Butch Herhold of Castalia and Keith Herhold of Sandusky. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty W. Herhold in 1996; son, Alan Herhold in 1964; parents, William and Jean (nee Kimball) Herhold; and a sister, Crystal Farmer. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
