Robert "Bob" Ivey, 91, of Vermilion, died Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Southwest General Hospital, Cleveland after a lengthy illness. Robert was born August 31, 1925 in Cleveland and had vacationed in Vermilion for over 35 years. He made Vermilion his home for 21 years moving from Parma. . He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II as an Aviation Machinist Mate. Robert worked as the plant manager for Ohio Bell in Cleveland. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church; Academy of Aeronautics, Cleveland Balsa Butchers, International Plastic Modelers Association, Naval Aviation Museum Foundation, Train Collectors Association, Lionel Train Collectors, Air Force Museum Foundation, and Toy Train Operating Society. He also built a model of the Southern Cross that is now displayed in the Smithsonian Institute of Air and Space. He is survived by his daughters, Kathleen (Henry) Picozzi of Ft. Meyers, Deborah Derry of Seminole, FL, Denise (Michael) Telep of North Royalton, and Susan (Karen Leonard) Ivey of Knoxville, TN; 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and sister, Elieen Rehor of Brenham, TX He was preceded in death by his wife, Clare (nee Gallagher) Ivey January 21, 2007 and his parents, Monroe and Florence (nee Miller) Ivey. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 2:00 pm until the time of the funeral service at 4:00 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion Ohio with the Reverend David Hull-Frye officiating. The Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct Military Honors Monday, Sept. 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
