Robert J. Jaskiewicz, 83, of Vermilion, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Mercy Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
He was born on July 1, 1941, in Cleveland, OH and had been a resident of Vermilion for the past 50 years, moving from Independence, OH.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Throughout his career, he held various positions in sales and electronics, ultimately retiring from Western Enterprises, where he worked as a gauge calibrator.
A tinkerer and problem-solver, Bob enjoyed computer programming, flight simulators, RC airplanes and boats, and building electronics. He had a remarkable talent for fixing things, a skill he happily passed on to his children. Bob’s love for the lake began in childhood, fishing and playing near the pier. That passion stayed with him throughout his life, and he cherished the peaceful moments spent lakeside with his beloved wife, watching boats drift by and casting a line whenever he could.
He is survived by his children, Ken (Stacey) Jaskiewicz, Julie (Matt Sharosky) Zelina, Marc Jaskiewicz, and Carl Jaskiewicz; grandchildren, Brie Ann (John), Rian, Lauren, Ava, Tim, and Melanie; and great-grandchildren, Skarlett, Olen, D’Artagnan, and Geralt.
Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Kathleen (née Kallberg) Jaskiewicz; his parents, Joseph and Genevieve Sophia “Jean” (née Gembarski) Jaskiewicz; and his siblings, Leonard (Gloria) Jaskiewicz, Joann (James) Harrison, and Richard (Sue) Jaskiewicz.
In keeping with his wishes, private services will be held.
