Robert L. Lamar, 90, formerly of Vermilion, died Sunday, April 28, 2013 at Ohio Veteran's Home after a lengthy illness. Robert was born April 5, 1923 in Kingwood, WV. He had been a Vermilion resident for the past 60 year moving from West Virginia. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II He was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses Church and the American Legion Post #397. Robert worked for US Steel Lorain in the Rolling Mill. He is survived by his brother, James Lamar of Waynesville, MO; sister, Jean Nelders of OH; nephew, Phillip (Connie) Lamar of Elyria and several other nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Elizabeth (nee Fizer) Lamar;sisters, Nellie Spears, Katherine Fourth, Ruth Sarver, Louise Wylie, Virginia Lamar and brothers, Hubert, Richard, Paul, Charles and Harold Lamar. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 2, 2013 9:00 am until the time of his funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. The Reverend Paul Birmingham, chaplain of the Ohio Veterans Home, will officiate. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon where the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors.
