Robert Lee Mills, 79, of Vermilion, died Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph after a short illness. Robert was born April 4, 1933 in Mount Clare, WV and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 57 years. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean War. Robert worked for Ford Motor Co. for 30 years in the paint department retiring in 1990 . He also served as the pastor of Sunshine Baptist Church, Lorain from 1979 to 1995 when he retired. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Vermilion where he served as a Deacon. He enjoyed woodworking and watching westerns on t.v. He is survived by his daughters, Diana (Tim) Thomas of Nashville, TN, Rebecca (Tom) Bausum of Rembert, SC, and Tressa (Jeff) Hart of Millersburg, and Robin (Brian) Butcher of Vermilion; 20 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and sister, Virginia Ward of Berlin Heights. He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia (nee Turner) Mills in 2009; parents, Raphel & Elizabeth (nee Donnelan) Mills, sisters, Louise Tangari, and Roberta Cupples; and brothers, Charles & Steven Mills. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012 from 4-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion Ohio. Funeral services will be Friday, Oct. 19, 2012 at 1:00 pm at the First Baptist Church, 6716 West River Rd., Vermilion. The Reverend Donald Resecker will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion where the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors. Online condolences may be made at www.riddlefuneralhome.com.
