Robert Nyfenger

Robert Nyfenger, 88, of New London, died Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph after a 2 month illness. Born March 19, 1922 in Cleveland, he had been a New London resident for the past 35 years. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He had three degrees from UCLA, Stanford, and Bowling Green. He was a letter carrier for the Parma Post Office. He enjoyed the outdoors, walking in the woods, and fishing. He also enjoyed literature and writing short stories. He had a quick wit and was a fast study. Survivors include his brother, Edward Nyfenger, Vermilion; a niece, Laurie (Jeff) Hoopes, Vermilion, and other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Frances (nee Kozorog) Nyfenger and brothers, Ernest, Harry, Freddie, Elmer and a sister, Ruth. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 19, 2010 at 1 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. The Reverend Louis Bertoni will officiate.
