Robert A. Risdon, 80, of Vermilion, passed away on January 1st, 2026, surrounded by loving family. Risdon was born July 12, 1945, and spent most of his life living in Vermilion.
Bob, as everyone called him, graduated from Vermilion High School in 1963. He then attended Ohio State University, graduating with a degree in Dairy Science in 1968. He remained an avid Buckeye sports fan, frequently attending OSU football games.
Risdon was married to the love of his life, Mary (nee Seibel) for 56 years. They have three children: Jeff Risdon (Julianne) of Holland, MI, Laura (Johnny) Gilles of Vermilion and Ryan (Shannon) Risdon of Greenville, SC. Bob was a proud grandpa to seven grandchildren: Layne, Lelia, Lizzie, Lucas, Jacob, Josiah and River.
Following college and marriage, Risdon ran the family farm for several years before transitioning into the logistics and trucking industry. He worked for Milk Marketing Inc in several locations before joining Bellevue Milk as president. Bob then joined Wikel Transportation as a long-haul tanker driver, a career he loved. Risdon retired in 2017 and enjoyed traveling with Mary and playing board and card games in retirement.
Bob was an active member of the Vermilion E&R Church, where he proudly worshipped and served as an elder and church treasurer. He served in leadership roles with the Ohio Farm Bureau and Young Farmers during his farming days. Bob was active in his HOA, serving as treasurer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Elsie (nee Trinter), parents-in-law, and brother Kenneth.
Bob is survived by his loving immediate family, younger brother Bruce, and many cousins and close friends.
